Comet ISON

Comet ISON is heading our way. The earth will be on the other side of the sun when the comet is passing through the earths orbit path the first time and from the gravitational pull of the sun it will catapult back around through the earths orbital path. Scientists have had worries that the comet will break apart from the suns heat but its holding together so far. It has been said that it will not hit us but we will be passing through its tail that is three times as long as the comet its self. We don't know what the effect of the tail will have on the earth yet it cannot be good. Comet ISON is made of a sooty lump of rock and ice (mainly frozen water, but with methane, ammonia and other compounds too). It is estimated that the comet will be the closest to the earth just a third of the distance between Earth and the sun which is approximately 28 million miles away on the date 12-26-13. People are still wondering if the comet will be a threat or not and there's not really a way to tell since we don't have any record of encountered to a comet this large and this close to our planet before.
